Ópera de Tenerife

Since its opening in September 2003, Auditorium of Tenerife, it became the main engine the Island’s cultural, as well as a symbol of architectural and artistic society of tenerife. With a spectacular setting in addition to several rooms, it is able to accommodate more productions daring and large-scale that previously could not be performed in the Canary islands. With an avant-garde architecture, the work of renowned architect Santiago Calatrava, the Auditorium of Tenerife is a building downright impressive thanks to its curved profile, the shape of the wing and the facade is covered with a trencadís reminiscent of the style of Gaudi. Auditorio de Tenerife is the center of most important production of the Canary Islands, which is already known in the rest of Spain and in other countries with which we maintain important collaborations related to the opera. We are also linked to opera houses around the world to be a member of Opera Europa, Opera, Latin America. It’s also worth mentioning the work done by the Auditorium for the creation of new audiences through the production of their own, especially adapted to the public, youth and family, as well as a broad repertoire spanning from the titles most conventional to the most innovative and original.  The project of Ópera de Tenerife – which includes the Cabildo de Tenerife through Auditorio de Tenerife – brings a breath of fresh air to the opera season with new features such as the International Singing Contest of Ópera de Tenerife, or the creation of Opera(e)Studio, an academy of comprehensive training that works with young singers, giving them the opportunity to train in all artistic disciplines and drama of the opera, by the staging of an opera produced by the Auditorium of Tenerife.
