The academy of high specialization begins the formation of the singers that will conclude with the mise en scene in October of ‘L’elisir d’amore’

The ten singers who have been selected in the seventh edition of Opera (e)Studio, have launched today [viernes 6] the working sessions of this training lyrical integral that they are going to perform in the Auditorium of Tenerife. This work of perfecting artistic conclude with the staging of the October 24 to 27, the title L’elisir d’amore, which means the start of the season of the Opera de Tenerife 2019-2020 and is made possible by means of a co-production with the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre, in a project financed by the Creative Europe programme,

The director of the island Culture, Leopoldo Santos, the artistic director of the Auditorium, José Luis Rivero; the mayor of Ópera de Tenerife, Alejandro Abrante, and the artistic director of Opera (e)Studio, Giulio Zappa, welcomed the singers, chosen from among the 181 participants who attended the convocation of the present edition.

The cast of the production of this opera is composed by two cast who perform in roles alternating during the four representations, and will feature the voices of Maria Rita Combatelli (soprano); Beatriz de Sousa (soprano); Klodjan Kaçani (tenor); César Arrieta (tenor); Alberto Bonifazio (baritone saxophone); James Ochoa (baritone); Givi Gigineishvili (bass); Matteo Andrea Mollica (bass); Sofía Esparza (soprano) and Leonora Tess (soprano). The ten components of this edition come from the auditions held in the month of February in Bologna, Tbilisi, Madrid and Tenerife, which was attended by a total of 181 candidates from 33 nationalities.

The artists started musical works and scenic that are required for the formation of a company lyrical novel, and will feature a series of master classes at the hand of own artistic director of the project, Giulio Zappa; the soprano Italian, Mariella Devia; the mayor of Ópera de Tenerife, Alejandro Abrante or the stage director of this production, Pablo Maritano, which will address both technical aspects as the professional management of an artistic career. All of this will interleave with the work sessions at a pace that demand a professional company, together with tests of costumes and makeup or the relevant tests with the Symphonic orchestra of Tenerife.

The current principal conductor of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife, Antonio Méndez, will be in charge of the musical direction of the production, which together with the stage director, Pablo Maritano, and the costume designer, Lorena Marin, give life to this work which takes us back to the golden age of film in Hollywood.

The functions will take place on Thursday 24, Friday 25 and Saturday 26 October at 19:30 pm, and Sunday 27 will be at 18:00 hours at the Symphony Hall.
